It was known as Brewster Free Academy back then. It was originally the Tuftonboro-Wolfeboro Academy (1820), becoming BFA after an endowment by Mr. Brewster (1887). With the growth of the town Kingswood High School was built for town students in the region and the Academy became a private school now known simply as Brewster Academy.
